The Wedding

The hard work is done and now it's time to celebrate.  Bill and Mary start their celebration like the rest of us, waiting under a tent for the rain to stop.

It finally did and we wandered up to seat ourselves.

Pre-wedding self portrait.

Some last minute wiping of the chairs by E.

Sisters Karen and Ellen as bridesmaids.

The Brides!

Shoe shot.  Cindy got new converse for the big day.  They are her first pair of low-tops.

Post-wedding family photo.

College friends.

E's brothers, checking out the dance floor.  Once the dancing got going, they were dancin' fools.

Lovely sign.

Our gifts came in a personalized bag.

And included what I think is a homemade beer cozy.

Some homemade coasters from a tree in their yard.

And a delicious Ikea chocolate bar with a special wrapper.

The rain held off while we celebrated.

Our bartender and wedding officiant.

Bringing out the wedding cupcakes.

Yet another blurry picture.  It seems that the wedding cupcakes and I were not destined to cooperate with each other.

There was even a special wedding head-in-the-hole.  Matt wanted to be the bear.

We ate food that was delicious. I had two hot dogs and don't get me started on the sides.  When the sun went down, we started to dance. Here Matt captures a late night photo.

The brides, pre-first dance.

Did I mention that the drinks were great, and poured with a heavy hand?

First dance.

After the brides danced, we all danced for hours, through the rain and while watching the lightning.  It was a great wedding for dancing, and a great wedding overall.

More wedding prep

This blurry picture is the only one I have of  the super fab wedding cupcake holders.

Bride Casey, on the left, chopped for hours at that table. Bride Cindy (in the middle) ran hither and yon to get things done.  Cindy's sister Karen is peeking over her shoulder.  The entire family did a tremendous amount of work for the wedding.  It was a very impressive operation and resulted in an awesome wedding.

Did I mention the cabin is super fancy now?  Witness the front porch steps that have a hydraulic lift to raise and lower them so people can have access to the storage area under the house.

Oh dear.  Rain.  Perhaps it will pass quickly.

Matt and I wait out the rain on the porch.

Toes.

Windsock in the rain.

Porch detail.

Double picture taking.

The alter/dance floor remains covered.

Some exploratory digging.

Olive Lake

Matt and I took a day trip to Olive Lake.  To get there, we drove to Granite (Oregon's fourth-smallest incorporated city) and took a left, then traveled on a dirt road for awhile.

The lake.

I had visions of swimming, but it's called an alpine lake for a reason.  Matt swam around the copse of trees pictured above, but I got in and got right back out.  My Mediterranean blood is not made for cold lakes.

Self portrait.

On the way back we stopped to look at the remains of this mine.

Here is the hole.

Here you can see where they dug part of the hillside away.

And here's all the detritus from the mining.

Uh-oh.  Those clouds look a bit ominous...

Wedding prep

Time to get ready for the wedding.  Matt and his height assist with the raising of a tent.  I attempted to assist, but was hindered by my lack of height, so took pictures instead.

Cindy's dad Bill, (he's on the left) also supervised.

This was a sleek operation that had exactly what they needed, including a broom to help unfold the tarp.

That thing that Matt is standing on is the incredible portable grill that is mounted on a trailer.  I didn't get a good picture of it, which was too bad, because that was a thing of beauty.

Bill and Cindy's grandmother watch from the porch.
Tables in the yard are ready for the wedding feast.

A view of the yard, including the cute little camper that the brides stayed in after the wedding.

Cindy and her mom, Mary, cooking.

Grandma reading her Kindle.
