Kitties are so fun! I love that they will climb up wherever they can. In our Eiden house - that my mom/dad parents bought when they were married - had burlap (brown) on the walls and a very high shelf (maybe 10 feet up) - which our cats would climb up to get on the shelf. Bet the 70's had no clue their wall-covering could be so multi-purpose.
