Worst Day of the Year Ride

Matt and I are suited up and waiting for the train to take us to the Worst Day of the Year Ride, an 18 mile ride around Portland. That strange plastic thing bisecting the picture is the guard around the tree.
There were a lot of people and the starting line was rather claustrophobic.

There were some awesome costumes, but every time I tried to take a picture of one, I got someone's elbow.

One thing I did like was that the announcer was a woman. This is the first sporting run/bike/whathaveyou where I haven't heard a man doing all the talking.

Some of us dealt better with the starting line wait than others.

Here is one of the "Re-cycling Team" a group of about 20 people wearing clothing made of recycled objects.

And her compatriot, who is wearing shorts made out of a potting soil bag.

Matt was ready to eat with his Top Ramen, last seen in the Muddy Buddy ride.

There were ample rest stops.

And we've finished.

We stopped to get our head-in-hole photographs taken before we ate.
Then we enjoyed delicious soup provided by Laughing Planet Cafe.

Looks like a lot of fun! I love the head-in-a-hole at the end of the loop! That's a nice touch. And lovely, soup?!?! Super nice!
