The Thermo-Kitty Mat by K&H Pet Products is a pad with a heating element in it. When the cat lays down on the pad, heat radiates from the heating element. When the cat leaves, the heating element ceases to heat. It's rather nifty. The cats are big fans, as Sentinel can attest here.

Oh man, do they ever get off of it? Lol. This is such a great kitty product! I can't imagine a single cat that wouldn't love it. There are few things cuter/a little sad than walking into the bedroom and catching my kitty all scrunched into the last sliver of sunlight on the bed.
They don't really like to leave it, and I'm probably going to get a second one, just because Antares isn't so great a sharing.
It was spendy, but one of those cat spendy things that is totally worth it.
And, as you now know, Arch does love it!
